    The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Eagle Lake Field Office (ELFO) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) that will analyze the impacts of development and maintenance within the existing Rice Canyon 105 acre open area managed primarily for off-highway vehicle (OHV) use. The project area is within the Antelope/Shaffer/Bald Mountain Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) which was designated in the 2008 BLM ELFO Resource Management Plan (RMP).The Rice Canyon OHV open area is

  2. Coastal OHV Park Offers Fun and Economic Boost

    OAKLEY, CA (December 18, 2014) -- A highly popular off-road state park located on the central coast of California was host last week for a government body that oversees the operation. On December 11 & 12, the California State Park's Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Commission met in Grover Beach. Commissioners toured the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Area (SVRA) and discussed many aspects of the CA OHV program statewide including various operational tenets of the SVRA.

  4. Yellowstone Opened to Limited Snowmobile Access With Non-commercially Guided Access

    On December 15, 2014 the gates opened to another season of snowmobile access to Yellowstone National Park. However, recent warm weather and limited snowfall resulted in very little snowpack on many of the park's interior roads. Until appreciable snowfall is received and conditions on the park's packed, groomed roads improves, snowmobile access to the Park will be limited (see Park Service News release). Remember during the 2014/2015 Winter Season, the Park will operate under the newly approved Winter Use

  5. BlueRibbon Coalition National Land Use & Legislation Update

    BRC has received questions and feedback concerning the pending National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2015. This bill recently passed the House of Representatives, and now faces a vote in the Senate. Appended to this bill is a massive package of other bills, including dozens of public lands bills. On the plus side, this signals at least a momentary end to the Congressional gridlock that has prevented meaningful public lands legislation from moving for years.
