There are now two avenues open to obtain an OHV grant. One is from Colorado State Parks OHV grant fund, which is funded from Colorado OHV registration fees and includes RTP funds.

The second is from the Colorado Association of 4 Wheel Drive Grants, INC. (CoA4WDCI).

Colorado State Parks Grants:
The OHV grant cycle from Colorado State Parks starts each year around August 1st with completed applications due 1 December. The grant applications are available on-line. See below.

An OHV sub-committee (of the Colorado State Trails Committee), made up of OHV recreationist volunteers, reviews the grants and scores them. Then the applicants make a verbal presentation to the sub-committee, generally in February. The sub-committee finalizes their grant scores and forwards them to the Colorado State Trails Committee. The committee evaluates and finalizes the grants and submits them to the Colorado State Parks Board of Directors for approval.

The State Parks staff records the approved grants and contracts are prepared and submitted to the successful grant applicants. The signed contracts are then processed through the State Parks and Colorado State government bureaucracies.

When this process is completed the checks for 50% of the approved grant are sent to the applicants. To collect the remaining grant money, the applicants must turn in the receipts for the first 50% and State Parks will send 40% of the remainder. 10% is withheld until the grant is successfully closed out.

To submit a grant application for Colorado State Parks OHV grant program, go to: and select “Programs”, select “OHV Programs”, select “Grants”, select “OHV Grant”. Print out the application and follow the directions.
